  • Mrs. Katie Day | Chairwoman

    Katie Day is an experienced and innovative leader in the field of education and services to children and their families. She has spent the last 21 years focused on how to improve and support quality technical education in our communities. She has experience shaping students minds, mentoring and sharing knowledge on the vale of quality education. She believes that everyone should be given the tools and hands on experience to support their career goals. She strongly believes that a persons past experiences or current economic status does not define his or her career outcome. Mrs. Day has a Master of Science Degree in Education from Jackson State University, Bachelor of Science Degree in Child and Family Studies from The University of Southern Mississippi, and an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Childcare Supervision Technology from East Central Community College.

  • Ms. Jacqueline Roberts | Secretary

    Jacquelyn Roberts is a dedicated professional educator with over 30 years of experience in educating and cultivating the minds of young children. Ms. Roberts’s leadership acumen has afforded her the opportunity to serve as teacher, facilitator, and administrator during her career. In addition to working in the Atlanta Public Schools, Ms. Roberts has also varied the scope of her abiding commitment to children by working as an adjunct instructor in the department of Early Childhood Care and Education at Atlanta technical College.

    She is an effective professional educator who stresses personal and professional self-determination.

    A member of several professional and civic organizations, Ms. Roberts received her undergraduate degree from Morris Brown College in Elementary Education, a master’s in Early Childhood Education from Atlanta University, an Ed. S. in Education from Clark Atlanta University, as well as endorsements in instructional and educational leadership.

    A life-time Atlanta resident, Ms. Roberts is well-respected in the field of education as well as community involvement. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

  • Dr. Anthony Anderson | Director Community Outreach

    Dr. Anthony Anderson a native of New York is in his 33rd year of providing dedicated and exemplary service in education. He began his career as a classroom teacher in elementary, middle, and high school. Promoted from an educator to an education administrator, Dr. Anderson has been a dedicated, innovative, and collaborative educational leader ensuring that all students reach their maximum potential. Dr. Anderson attended Hunter College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and a Minor in Biology and then a Masters in Early Childhood Education. He attended Georgia State University and earned a certificate in Education Administration and Supervision. He continued his education and earned a Doctorate Degree from Capella University. Experienced on all levels of educational administration and classroom instruction for elementary, secondary, and higher education, Dr. Anderson brings a plethora of knowledge and keen understanding on instructional improvement, particularly in learning management methodologies, and classroom management.

    He was selected to serve as a SACS committee member for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) ensuring renewal of DJJ accreditation credentials for the school district. While at the Department of Juvenile Justice he was recognized for outstanding teacher within the 2008-2009 school year. He provided leadership in education which contributed to improving youth outcomes by ensuring youth safety, establishing a system of accountability and developing youth academic performance competencies.

    Dr. Anderson also facilitated educational workshops on differentiation of instruction for Elementary, Middle, and High School teachers. He developed and supervised school newsletters for Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, and the Department of Juvenile Justice. He was elected as Chairperson to run Parent Council Board meetings for Usher Middle School of Atlanta. He also served as an elected committee member for the New York City Board of Education - School Base Management. Dr. Anderson was also selected as one of the New York Public Schools Liaison for the School Chancellor and the Elementary School district for Curriculum Development.

    Dr. Anderson served as a Chief Academic Officer for United Health Services in the Bibb County School District. He was also selected by the AdvancED organization to serve as an evaluator for AdvancED External Review (NCA CASI, NWAC, SACS CASI) for compliance and renewal school accreditations. Dr. Anderson also presents lectures on Early Childhood Care and Education and Adult Education courses for Higher Education Institutions. He is an Adjunct Professor and teaches Early Childhood Care Education and Adult Education courses at Atlanta Technical College.

  • Mrs. Monique Carruthers | Treasurer

    Monique Carruthers is the Founder and Executive Director of ZEST Preparatory Academy. She has impacted student achievement in Georgia’s rural and urban K-12 schools for the last 20 years in traditional, virtual, and charter settings. Most recently, she was the Executive Director for the Innovation Fund Foundation, Inc. at the Governor's Office of Student Achievement (GOSA) where she also served as an Adult Learning Facilitator and Literacy Specialist. In this role, she supported Georgia school systems to improve literacy instruction in grades K-3 by collaborating with district leaders, school administrators, and teachers. Ms. Carruthers also has previous experience as an educational consultant, PK-5 teacher, founding schools as an elementary administrator, and was a founding Curriculum Coordinator for Georgia’s first K-8 virtual school in 2007. The Douglas County Chamber of Commerce named Monique a Top Ten Young Professional of 2020 and member of the 2021 Leadership Douglas class of community leaders. She serves on a number of boards and committees focused on educational equity, literacy, and community engagement. She is active in the community and serves on a number of boards and committees focused on educational equity, literacy, and community engagement including the Douglasville Public Arts Commission, the Board of Directors for the Douglasville Boys and Girls Club, and is the Philanthropy/ Community Service Chair for the West Georgia Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Monique earned an undergraduate degree from the University of California San Diego, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University and is completing an Ed.D in Educational Leadership. In her free time, she can be found cheering on her three school-aged children as they actively become our next generation of leaders.
